I am a girl who has been waging war against fat all her adult life. This blog is to document my journey as I approach 30 spending over 10 years overweight and depressed. I am a mum of one, wife and fed up of fat British bird.

When this blog started I was aiming to get Gastric Bypass surgery on the NHS. I was depressed, desperate, and overwhelmed with barriers in my head as to why I couldn’t lose weight by myself. I was struggling to lose the 10% weight and I was pointed in the direction of The Happiness Project, a project which changed my life completely and continues to this day to support my happiness, goals and helps me remain the happy, positive and productive person I have become.

When I felt I had finally found the tools to help me be happy without my life revolving around my weight, when I was no longer measuring my self worth by what was said on the scales I started to think about my weight. Changing the way you think, challenging yourself, your behaviour, your deepest things is difficult, painful and excruciating at times. I ate during this process to “help” me a long and when I finally found myself in a great place mentally, I realised I had hit my highest weight in a lifetime and I could not accept that any longer.
I joined Slimming World, something that I had tried before successfully for a time, and I started to lose weight. Then I discovered exercise and boy was my life made! I am completely and utterly addicted and am exploring so many different types of exercise to keep myself fresh. I will be blogging about my adventures in the battlefield and facing the fear of fat. I was told at the age of 29 that my right hip has some problems already. That the wonderful world of Running that I had discovered was to be off limits until I was nearer to my healthy weight and even then, maybe too late. So I took up biking and swimming, did Pilates, Body Combat classes and X Biking classes at my local gym and proved that there is always a way. No Excuses!
I’m still on my journey and you’ll find my favourite posts in adventures on the battlefield here and I’d love it if you’d join me on my journey, and share your’s too, feedback is great and I love hearing from you all
