Walking Out The Week

So I’ve had a tough this week, I said the other day that I felt I wasn’t achieving what I wanted to, I’ve not been regularly exercising, I’ve had a terrible week dietary wise and I’m feeling more and more poorly. This damn cough is not improving one bit. However, I’ve been working on how I’m dealing with it. Pretty much everyone in the town has had this cough, it hits hard and it lasts weeks, I can’t stop living life because of it it lingers too long.

So I’ve thought about what I want to be doing in the gym, I’ve thought about what I want to be achieving and I’ve started setting the wheels in motion, I’ve started to organise and this always makes me feel calm. If I have something I can just follow I just do it. No thinking, no mucking about.

We decided Sunday was the start again point. We started by setting our alarm, unheard of on a weekend, and going out for a walk. We all had breakfast and headed out to lovely Saltram Park. I never realised what a fab place it would be to run and cycle it would be. Anyway, we only walked a couple of miles but we did it at a good pace as it was a beautiful but freezing day.

The walk is lovely, even in single digit temperatures, all along the river front, you can see a lot of Plymouth out there, it’s beautiful really. Charlie is not a fan of walking, he pretty much ruined it by moaning every time we asked him to walk. Another part of why we wanted to go today was to test out a carrier we bought. It’s designed to be used by 3 year olds up to 20kg, the bonus of having a teeny boy is that he’s no where near that weight barrier at 5 years old. He’s gained 2kg in 15 months so I’m pretty sure we’ll be ok with it for a while. I know it’s pandering to him, it is mainly for our Cuba holiday as we are going to spend 3 days walking Havana and I will not have that experience tainted by him moaning all the way around and being asked to be carried in the heat. Parenting is tough! We are giving him lazy while promoting healthy. It’s tricky.

We love to get him interested in things while we are walking, he loved the colours of the leaves and the rings on the felled trees but he didn’t even walk half the time today and I was so frustrated by the end of it.

We loved the views, the stroll was fantastic and there were loads of families, dog walkers and people just out enjoying the sunshine and the exercise, it was great to see.

What did you do with your weekend?

  1. What gorgeous photos and what a lovely day to end / start the week. I had a lazy weekend… though you’ve probably seen my post by now confessing to some unhealthy food choices on Sunday night.

    Blah blah blah!!
